The past

Two thousand years ago the ancient Romans developed a heating system the equivalent of which is still modern today: they warmed up the walls. Then the first tile stoves appeared in the 11th century and have retained their popularity ever since, although they are not suitable for warming up larger common areas. The first steam boiler was made in 1750, and the hot water based central heating system made its debut in the 19th century.
